Hello SIS students!
It is time for I Love to Read Week next week. To show our love and support of reading, we are inviting you to write a book for other students to read. Your WoW class can make one book together. Your teacher will listen to your ideas and decide what to write about. Then, with all of your input, the teacher will write your story.
You may draw pictures for different parts of the story that show what is happening in the story to add to the book.
By the end of the week, your class should have a small story with pictures put together to add to the SIS library. Future SIS students will read your book. Your book will be something that you can be proud of!
Let’s get started!
I Love to Read Week
Schedule March 2016
Monday, March 7: Spelling Bee!
Tuesday, March 8: International Women’s Day NO SCHOOL
Wednesday, March 9: Selected primary students read to the Kindergarten classes.
Thursday, March 10: Book exchange!
Friday, March 11: Character Costume Day!
For Monday, parents not need to do anything other than get your child to school on time.
For Wednesday, parents do not need to do anything other than get your child to school on time.
For Thursday, parents need to help your child bring English books to SIS to exchange. You will not get the book back once donated, so only send books you are giving away. If a child brings one book, they will switch for another book. If a child brings 5 books, which is the limit, then they will be able to exchange for 5 other books. If a child brings 0 books, they will get 0 new books. Please make sure the books are in decent or good condition.
For Friday, in order to make this day fun for all students, we encourage you to help your child pick a book character and make an appropriate costume to wear to school. Also, please assist your child in being able to describe his or her character and the costume. The character must come from a book, not a movie. SIS will allow paper weapons as long as the weapons go along with the costume (the school still reserves the right to take any weapon from students if it sees fit). No comic book or cartoon superheroes are allowed.
The success and fun of Thursday and Friday depends upon you parents! Please help your child prepare and be ready. Thank you for your support and care for your child/children. You are appreciated.
